Bicycle Licenses
Bicycling is a great form of recreation and a practical means of transportation. The beautiful scenery surrounding the City of Carbondale, along with miles of roads and available bicycle paths, should be enough to keep any cyclist busy. All cyclists are required to obey the same laws as motor vehicles and are also required to register their bicycles with the City of Carbondale Police Department or Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
You can register your bicycle in person at the Police Department, 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday, or by downloading and printing the bicycle registration form available on this site and then mailing it along with the registration fee ($2.00) to the Department. If you choose to mail in your application, a registration sticker will be mailed to you at the address listed on your application.
For more information concerning bicycling laws please call Community Resource Officer Randy Mathis at (618) 457-3200 ext. 428 or email: rmathis@ci.carbondale.il.us.
