What: From May 10-27, 2013, IDOT supported enforcement to remind motorists to buckle up both day and night during the Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement mobilization.  Carbondale Police Department joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois in this annual effort to get more motorists to buckle up - and save more lives.

During the mobilization, Carbondale Police Department issued:

  • 233seat belt citations
  • 3child safety seat citations
  • 3DUI arrests
  • 7felony arrests
  • 0stolen vehicles recovered
  • 19fugitives apprehended
  • 16suspended/revoked licenses
  • 36uninsured motorists
  • 96speeding citations
  • 0reckless driving citations
  • 7drug arrests

The annual Click It or Ticket mobilization may be over in Carbondale, IL, but that is no excuse to stop using your seat belt.  “Our officers are out all year long.  If you or your passengers are caught not wearing a seat belt, day or night, you will be cited for the safety violation,” says Police Chief, Jody O’Guinn.
