CARBONDALE MAN SENTENCED FOR BURGLARY

Michael C. Carr, Jackson County State’s Attorney, announced today that a Carbondale man entered a plea of guilty Wednesday, September 25, 2013, to Burglary and was sentenced to prison.

Kevin L. Fajardo, 39, of Carbondale, IL, who was charged in Jackson County Circuit Court with Burglary, plead guilty pursuant to a plea agreement and was sentenced to serve 4 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.  The defendant will serve a two year period of Mandatory Supervised Release upon his release from the Department of Corrections.

On July 13, 2013, the Carbondale Police Department was dispatched to 905 East Main Street (Phillip’s 66 convenient store) for the report of a burglary alarm.  Upon arrival, offices discovered that the business had been burglarized and property had been stolen from the business.  Officers observed four male individuals flee from the area of the business.  Kevin Fajardo was apprehended after a pursuit by police officers.  Upon apprehension of the defendant, officers discovered property from the business inside a back pack owned by the defendant.

This investigation was conducted by the Carbondale Police Department.  Assistant State’s Attorney Casey Bloodworth was responsible for the prosecution of this case.
