Murphysboro Man Sentenced in Carbondale Robbery
Jackson County State’s Attorney, Michael C. Carr announced today that a Murphysboro man has been sentenced to a term of 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for a robbery which occurred June 19, 2013. Robert Blair, 45 was sentenced in Jackson County Court Thursday, September 26, 2013.
In the late evening hours of June 18, 2013, Blair was at a local Carbondale bar where he met the victim. Shortly thereafter he and the victim left the bar and Mr. Blair asked the victim for his wallet. When the victim refused, Blair threatened that he would hurt him if the victim did not surrender the wallet. The victim still refused and Blair began to punch the victim in the head a number of times until the victim was knocked down and Blair was able to take the wallet from the victim’s pocket. Carbondale Police were immediately called and within a short time located the defendant who was identified at the scene by the victim
The sentence is to run concurrently with a 5 year sentence also handed down against Mr. Blair on September 26, 2013, in a separate case of theft. This case was investigated by the Carbondale Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Mark Hamrock.
