Aggravated Battery & Mob Action Investigation

10-18-13 Web Release –Aggravated Battery & Mob Action Investigation

On 10-18-13 at 6 p.m., the City of Carbondale Police Department responded to the 800 block of South Illinois Avenue in reference to a disturbance. During the course of the investigation, officers learned that the victim had an earlier altercation with the suspects outside of the city limits.  The victim fled into Carbondale and was approached by the three suspects, two of whom displayed handguns. The victim attempted to flee when he was struck by one of the suspects, causing non-life threatening injuries. Officers located the suspects nearby and identified them as Terry Y. Little, Manuel C. Shanklin, and Detrick Y. Rogers.  Little was charged with Possession of Stolen Firearm, Mob Action, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Shanklin was charged with Mob Action, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, No Valid FOID, and Obstructing Justice, and Rogers was charged with Aggravated Battery and Mob Action. All three suspects were incarcerated at the Jackson County Jail.  The investigation into the incident is continuing.
